Between Crepes de Chefs de France, L'Artisan de Glaces, and Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie, there is no shortage of amazing snacks to be had in the France Pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase. Whether you're craving savory or sweet, you're sure to find something for tempting the palate, prepared in the classic technique. Today, I'm featuring something on the sweeter side: frangipane from Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie!
You may be asking "what is frangipane?" Well, frangipane is a filling typically made from almonds, butter, sugar, and eggs. The flavor is similar to marzipan, but in the case of this pastry a bit more creamy than that confection tends to be, but still firmer than a custard. The delicious, nutty, creamy filling is complimented well by the buttery, tender, flaky pastry that it is encapsulated in, making for quite the decadent little snack. It's the perfect size for sharing between two people, though I will not judge anyone who keeps this all to themselves! So next time you're wandering the France Pavilion, check out the frangipane - it always pays off to try something besides your standard eclair or creme brulee!
Until next time, everyone, stay magical!
