It's been a pretty crazy couple of weeks - ride closures, reopening of the brand new Mission: Space (which I will ride and report back on soon!), but there's one thing that always remains the same at Disney: the availability of tasty snacks! Continuing on our journey of snacks of the (most) weeks, we have the Jemari Sushi Combo at Kabuki Cafe!
Kabuki Cafe is mainly known as the kakigori stand - and, I assure you, at some point in the future that will be a feature for snack of the week. This week, however, we are looking at a frequently overlooked item: the sushi!
Your choices are a California Roll or this little beauty, which features two pieces of California Roll, and two small nigiri style pieces with tuna and shrimp, as well as the usual accompaniments of wasabi, soy sauce, and pickled ginger for palate cleansing. The rolls are quite nice, especially for pre-packaged sushi. I find that often sushi gets far too cold if it's held in the refrigerator for a while, giving the rice and fish an unpleasant consistency, but these pieces taste like they had been made fairly recently, so they were just the right temperature for the slight tanginess of the vinegared sushi rice to come through and the subtle sweetness of the seafood to be on display.
As of the writing of this entry, to Jemari Sushi Combo is only $5, so if you're wandering World Showcase on a warm day and have had a bunch of sweet treats, this will definitely break up that monotony on your palate and provide a little variety - plus, if you've never had sushi before (or never ventured to try raw fish sushi) this is a great place to start! Until next time, everyone, stay magical!
